This place was later renamed as Kompaniganj after the East India Company. Pilgrims from Chandradwip, Bakla, Bhusana, Bikrampur and Meherkul used to hold conferences in Yogidiya of this Kompaniganj and Masterda Surshasen, Anant Singh, Loknath Bal, Bibhuti Bhushan Bhattacharya, Haranghosh Prabhut, soldiers of anti-British movement used to meet here.
