General information of the municipality

Municipality Overview (within 500 words) Basurhat Municipality was formed on 4th April 1990 with the active participation of prominent politicians, businessmen and people of all walks of life and active cooperation of the then high level government officials of the area. Since then, the 3rd class municipality has passed to the 2nd class through various types of retaliation and has now passed to the 1st class. At the time of creation, there were 6 officers and employees working in the municipality. At present, the total number of staff including secretary, executive engineer and administrative officer is 36. The 1st Administrator of the Municipality is the late Amirmnal Islam Khokon and the 1st elected Chairman is the late Dr. Md. Abdul Halim MBBS. Mr. Abdul Quader Mirza was the Chairman of the 2nd Council, Mr. Kamal Uddin Chowdhury was the Chairman of the 3rd Council, Mr. Abdul Quader Mirza, the Mayor of the 4th Council has been re-elected. As soon as he took charge, he traveled to Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka as a representative of the Government of the Republic of Bangladesh. One of the notable works after the creation of the municipality. Construction of own building and market for Basurhat Municipality, 2. Purchase of 1 acre ...... percent land for construction of Municipal Bus Terminal and construction of terminal at the terminal, 3. He bought 15 per cent of the land for the establishment of a primary school in the municipality and built a school on it. Construction of several markets on government khas land from the west of the municipality. Purchase of 27% land for dumping site of the municipality.
